We have all seen the movies where the little girl or boy gets the cute puppy for Christmas with the lovely red bow on it. But what we don’t always see is what happens to that cute little puppy when it gets bigger and the same child has lost interest in it, or just no longer has the time for it.
Now, that’s not to say this happens with every puppy at Christmas, but there are far too many pets that are bought at Christmas without much thought of how they will fit into the family for the rest of their lives.
Aside from Christmas being a very hectic time, and probably the worst time to introduce a new family member to the house, there are lots of factors to take into consideration when getting a new dog.
With this in mind I was very interesting to read about #YearRoundPresents.
What is #YearRoundPresents?
#YearRoundPresents describes the aim of their campaign is to:
1)Raise awareness: People need to be more responsible in the gifting of pets, to ensure the person receiving the gift actually wants it, and is equipped to deal with it – A PET IS FOR LIFE, NOT JUST FOR CHRISTMAS!!
2)Fundraising: For the animal charities that inevitably end up picking up the pieces by providing food and shelter to abandoned pets.
What Do You Need To Do?
To raise awareness and funds for the cause they are asking Pet Parents all over to do the following.
1. We want people to post a Festive Pet Selfie
2. Donate to the animal charity of their choice
3. Nominate a fellow animal lover, whilst using the hashtag #YearRoundPresents (It is so important that the hashtag is used every time someone takes part in the campaign!)”
