Tips to Write the Perfect Nose of Tralee Pet Competition Entry

1. Share Their Unique Story

What makes your pet special?
Tell us what makes them your Nose of Tralee.

  • Did they overcome something challenging?
  • Do they make people smile everywhere they go?
  • Are they the heart and soul of your home?

Example:

“Bailey is our rescue dog who helped us through a tough year. His big heart and wagging tail have made him a friend to everyone in the village!”

Your story doesn’t have to be long – just heartfelt and authentic.

2. Choose the Right Photo

Your pet’s photo is the first thing people see – so make it count!

Pick a clear, high-quality photo that:

  • Shows your pet’s face
  • Is well lit (natural light is best)
  • Captures their personality (funny, proud, sleepy, sassy – whatever feels most them)

Avoid dark, blurry, or overly edited photos. People love seeing pets in their natural, adorable glory.

3. Let Their Personality Shine

  • Is your cat the boss of the house?
  • Does your dog “talk” back when you say walkies?
  • Maybe your rabbit thinks they’re royalty?

Include a line or two about their personality – the funnier or more heartwarming, the better!

Example:

“Luna thinks she runs the house (and honestly, she probably does). She’s the only cat I know who purrs louder than the vacuum.”

4. Keep It Simple, But Memorable

Don’t overthink it – but do take your time! A great entry is like chatting to a friend about your pet. You want it to be:

  • Easy to read
  • Warm and engaging
  • Full of love and personality

Avoid long paragraphs. Short and sweet works just fine.

5. Think About What People Will Connect With

Remember, after entries close, the public will be voting – so it helps to write something that people can relate to.

Think:

  • Community spirit
  • Feel-good moments
  • Pets being there for us through the ups and downs

Bonus: Mention Your County!

Each finalist represents their county – so don’t forget to give your pet’s home a little love.

Example:

“Patch is proud to represent County Clare – he’s walked every hill and sniffed every stone!”

Final Tip: Have Fun With It!

This is all about celebrating how much we love our pets – and sharing that joy with people all over Ireland.

So relax, write from the heart, and most of all enjoy the experience. You never know, your furry friend could be the next Nose of Tralee!
