I have been keen to visit the Happy Pear for some time. Their food always looks so pretty in their Instagram pictures and I was always curious why the place was so popular and had such a devoted following.
It’s a bit of a drive for us out to Greystones, but it was a sunny day and seemed the perfect time to try the place out.
We weren’t sure if they were Dog-Friendly, but on arrival, we saw there were lots of dogs in the courtyard. So, I am guessing they have no problem with you taking your dog down there.
First Impressions of The Happy Pear
It’s quite clear on arrival that the café is extremely popular. There were people queuing out the door and there was a great buzz about the place. As well as the café, they have a store– so you can pick up some of their great produce and their cookbook.
It wasn’t as big as I expected, although there is a large seating area outside and on a sunny day, it was nice to sit out and eat.
Food Review
Only 1 person in our party was a vegetarian, so for the rest of us, it was a new experience. We were however pleasantly surprised by the choice available and the different flavours on offer.
It’s a self-service café, so you order and pay for your food and then find a seat once it’s ready. There is lots of seating though, so that’s not a problem. Also, bottled water is available for the tables.
Buddha Bowl
We particularly enjoyed the sweet potato in this dish, it was really tasty.
Vietnamese Pumpkin Curry
A really nice curry flavour and plenty of pumpkin.
Pumpkin and Feta Lasagna, with side of Avocado
Lasagna was really tasty and fresh – would definitely recommend.
The avocado had too much lemon on for me, which took away from the taste of the avocado.
Overall, we really enjoyed the Happy Pear. It’s a nice place to relax and chat to friends. It’s very busy and clearly a popular spot with locals and people from Dublin.
There were a lot of cyclists passing through and there were 3 dogs visiting while we were there. It would be nice if they advertised it being Dog-Friendly on their website as we would have taken our dogs.

What To Do While You Are In Greystones:
The Beach is just down the road and there were dogs off lead having a run around down there. It’s a really nice clean beach with plenty of parking and a children’s playground.
Killruddery House and Gardens isn’t far from the Happy Pear and has beautiful grounds for you to walk around. There is an admission fee to get into the gardens and dogs aren’t allowed in there. But there are areas to walk around outside with your dog and on Saturdays, they have a market you can visit.
