As part of our series on Vets in Dublin we got to talk to Palmerstown Veterinary Hospital and find out how they get their clients tails wagging. They sound like a great team of animal lovers. Do check out their website and Facebook pages – there is some great information on their blog and some fun pictures on Facebook.
1. Tell us the name of your vets, where you are located and how potential customers can contact you.
We are Palmerstown Veterinary Hospital and are located in Palmerstown village opposite the church at the entrance into the Aldi carpark. We are easily accessible from Ballyfermot, Clondalkin, Chapelizod and Lucan and conveniently located just minutes from the M50. There is an abundance of parking adjacent to the hospital. We are on Facebook, Twitter, and our website is www.anicare.ie
2. Tell us about your facility and what services you offer?
We are small animal hospital and open 7 days a week. We consult in the morning and evening and carry out our surgeries in between this. Our services include preventative healthcare, surgery, diagnostic services, dental care, dietary advice and much more. Our nurses have their own clinics which include weight clinics, new puppy/kitten clinics, nail manicures and pedicures. Our nurse Caitriona also runs puppy socialisation classes in the evening.
3. Tell us about your amazing staff? Why will our pets LOVE them
The staff here at Palmerstown Veterinary Hospital are passionate about our pets and we treat all of our patients as if they are our very own. Tanya is the first team member that you will meet when you visit us. She is our receptionist and loves welcoming and meeting all of our clients, and their pets, every day. Our 2 vets, Susan and Kimberly, are highly experienced in all aspects of veterinary care and our nurses, Paula and Caitriona, are both registered and bring a combined passion and care to the nursing of their patients.
4. What makes you different to other vets in your area?
Our passion for our work is what sets us apart from others in our area. Each one of our staff loves their job and we think this shows when we are treating patients and speaking with their owners. We believe in educating pet owners as well and we have run open days here in our hospital, where clients can come and see what really goes on behind the scenes. We also love to visit our local schools, accompanied by a staff pet of course, and speak with the kids about the best way to take care and treat their pets. They always have plenty of questions for us! Unlike most other practices, we are very active on Facebook and other social media. We love to connect with clients and our local community. We also love to post patient photos and you will often see one of our staff members with a camera in hand taking photos of our visitors.
5. How do you make your clients tails wag like crazy?
We just love to reward our patients with a little treat when they visit us, in fact most of them even head straight for the treat drawer! Some pets can be nervous when visiting the vet so we do our best to put them at ease. This can include placing them in a quiet room until the vet sees them, rubbling/cuddling them or just putting their owners at ease if they are the nervous ones!
7. What is the ONE thing that your staff love most about taking care of animals?
The one thing that all the staff at PVH love most about taking care of animals is seeing a patient recover and go home with their smiling family. The staff here at PVH find our jobs incredibly rewarding. Of course there are difficult aspects to our job, such as helping families say goodbye to their beloved pets but seeing a patient, who has been very sick, make a full recovery and go home with their loving family is an incredible feeling.
