PRESS RELEASE

The Nose of Tralee

Is Your Pet The First Ever ‘Nose of Tralee’?

Pet Sitters Ireland, Ireland’s largest pet care provider, proudly announces its sponsorship of the first ever annual Nose of Tralee competition, the final of which takes place on the 19th August and is open to all pets Nationwide.

This is a pet competition with a difference. It is an online competition for pets of all shapes, sizes and breeds. Proud pet owners can submit photos of their pets looking cute or performing tricks for a chance to represent their county and try to win the overall prize.

Maybe your dog can ride a skateboard without falling off or your cat can play a tune on the piano. Perhaps your goldfish jumps through hoops to get a treat; your bird can shake his feathers and dance like a pro; or your horse can paint a masterpiece?  Or maybe they are just the cutest pet in the county? If so, your pet could be the 2014 Nose of Tralee! And we want to hear from you.

To enter the Nose of Tralee competition, pet owners must submit a description of their pet’s unique talent and a photograph, preferably of their pet showing off their talent. Along with a public vote, the panel of judges will be looking for pets who show real personality and a special talent. Judges include Author Lorna Sixsmith and Photographer David McCauley

Kate McQuillan, Managing Director of Pet Sitters Ireland says “This is a great opportunity for pets of all shapes and sizes to compete to represent their county and become crowned the 2014 Nose of Tralee. We would love all types of animals to enter – not just cats and dogs. There is no reason the 2014 Nose of Tralee couldn’t be a hamster!”

All entries should be submitted online via www.noseoftralee.com by the 18th July.

Thirty-two finalists, one representing each county in Ireland, will be announced on 25th July and will receive a commemorative sash. Each winner must then submit a photograph of their pet wearing the sash by 1st August to be judged in round two. Public voting of the 32 finalists will commence again on 4th August.

The winner of the Nose of Tralee will be announced on Facebook and Twitter on the 19th August, the second and final evening of the annual Rose of Tralee competition.

The first place winner will be crowned the 2014 Nose of Tralee and will receive a special photo session for themselves and their pet with David McAuley Photography.

The second place winner will receive a pet goody hamper worth 250 euro.
