It’s that time of year when the world is making New Year’s Resolutions and naturally we feel we should make some too. Lots of the normal resolutions include depriving ourselves of chocolate, food, alcohol. Or maybe joining a gym, waking up earlier or walking a million miles a day. But have you ever thought about making some New Year’s Resolutions with your pets?
Your pets are a huge part of your family and so it only makes sense that you would make sure your New Year’s Resolutions include them.
5 New Year’s Resolutions For You And Your Pets
These are some of the resolutions you can make with your pets this year and we would love to hear in the comments below if you have others of your own.
#1. More Walks
Getting more exercise is always high on the list of resolutions for most people and when you have a dog they will love you for those extra walks. Getting out in the fresh air is something that dogs love and is bound to get their tail wagging.
Whether you decide to add more daily walks or make a point of doing longer walks at the weekend you and your dog will certainly feel the benefit.

#2. Play More Games
All animals love to play games and one of the things you can do is make time in your schedule to play with your pets. Even 10 minutes of play can mean the world to your pets and is also a great way to keep more active yourself.
There are lots of games you can play that will keep your pets engaged, for example fetch, tug of war, laser lights for cats, anything on a stick for a cat.

My dogs and my cat love to sit on the sofa and cuddle up next to me. If I light the fire and turn on the TV there is no moving them. It’s a lovely way to spend any free time you have and is relaxing for both you and your pets.
But why not watch a movie with animals in it? We asked our Facebook Fans which was there favourite movie and here are some of them.

- Turner and Hooch
- Marley and Me
- 101 Dalmations

#4. Quit Bad Habits
Quitting bad habits is always a good idea but we tend to commit to them at the start of the year. My advice would be don’t try to quit everything at once! Gradually introduce new things to your daily routine.
Humans might be giving up
- Smoking
- Chocolate
- Alcohol
- Complaining
Dogs might be giving up
- Stealing Socks
- Digging holes in nice lawns!
- Stealing your brother/sisters toys
Cats might be giving up
- Tearing up boxes
- Pooping in the plants
- Stealing food off the counter
Whatever you decide to give up then commit to it and make a plan to stick to it. You can leave those socks in the laundry basket! I promise!
#5. More Tail Wagging
We can all be guilty of being a little grumpy at times. 2017 should be year you decide to focus on positive thoughts and actions. Whether it’s an annoying co-worker, the dog up the road or the new kitten your family just got try to be nice to them.
Take time out to be grateful and happy for what you have and be mindful of others. Kindness goes a long way!
