Pet Halloween Costumes

Safety is a main priority for our pets at Halloween.

• Keep them inside – a radio or TV can be a good distraction and blocks out the noise.
• Be careful with lit candles – they can easily be knocked over by an excited pet.
• Don’t let them get out when someone comes to the door.
• Any outdoor animals, such as rabbits, should be put away for the night.
• An early walk for dogs can be a good idea, before the festivities begin.
• Keep them away from the chocolates!!

An early walk and a night in front of the fire with the TV on is where our pets will be – safe and sound!

Many people do however decide to dress their pets up at Halloween, and while this is a greater trend in the states it seems to be catching on over here rapidly.

Our cats, Top Cat and Smuggler, certainly would not let you dress them up. Neither would our dog Patch, and let’s face it Coco is just too big!

Would your dog or cat let you dress them up? and would you want to?

Make sure you have a plan for your pets at Halloween. It can be a scary time for them and preparation to minimise the stress is important.

  1. A good blog post with great tips. I’d never consider dressing up our collie but I can see why children would have great fun dressing up a cat or small dog – it might be a bit stressful for the animals though would it?
